From the time we phoned your funeral home in the middle of the night, you made everything go so smoothly. The actual details and minutia seemed to evaporate. I thank you for your quiet, respectful guidance, unending patience, and the generosity of your time and care.
- Merrill Williams

Five years ago, I purchased funeral arrangements for my mother. When I made the call to notify you of her passing, the wheels went into motion for everything to properly take place.. everything went as scheduled and I realized the importance of having preplanning funderal arrangements in place with the proper funeral home.

Preplanning Funeral Information

Your staff made the funeral process as painless as it could be. We were very pleased and impressed with Star of David. The location right next to the Jewish cemeteries avoided the usual confusion of a convoy of mourners following each other for miles, often getting lost along the way..

Questions
and Answers

Who owns Star of David?
We are owned and operated by Kevin Gray and Andrew Novak, two fully licensed Jewish funeral directors. Kevin owned and operated Direct Family Funerals and Andrew owned B'nai Sholom Funeral Home in Island Park. They merged their entities to form Star of David Memorial Chapels, a state-of -the-art funeral chapel, to accommodate the rapidly growing demand for their services.

How large are the chapels?
Our new Waters of Babylon Chapel can seat up to 300 attendees and our more intimate Isaiah Chapel can accommodate up to 125 attendees.

How close are you to the cemeteries?
We are a located literally moments away, practically walking distance from New Montefiore, Wellwood, and Beth Moses and about a two minute drive to Mt Ararat.

Why should I use your chapel if all I want is a graveside service?
Although graveside services make sense in many instances, sometimes factors beyond anyone's control give them limitations. For example, if the weather does not cooperate, things can get rather uncomfortable. Driving rain, sleet, snow, howling winds, freezing cold, sweltering heat and humidity all can make an already difficult day unbearable.
Most cemeteries in the metropolitan area prohibit chairs and do not provide tents for the service. Elderly, infirmed mourners are left to huddle around the graveside for long periods of time. Ambient noises and odors from the surrounding area can contribute to unwanted distractions. Feeling badly for uncomfortable attendees can cause eulogies and heartfelt words to be abbreviated or hastily spoken just to finish up.

But we're going to end up at the cemetery anyway for the burial?
Yes, but the interment service after a chapel ceremony is much shorter than a strictly graveside service. And during the chapel service, your loved one can receive the dignified rememberance they deserve

But what if the weather is predicted to be fine?
Then we can schedule the service to be conducted directly at the graveside.

How much can we expect to save using Star of David?
Depending upon certain choices you make, you can expect us to be anywhere from $1500 to $4000 less than our nearest competitors. Compare local Jewish funeral home prices here.

Why are your prices so much lower than the surrounding Jewish Funeral Homes?
First of all, we have chosen to build our chapel in an area that is much less costly to build and operate than a highly priced commercial or residential site. Secondly, one of our owners and directors, Kevin Gray, was the founder of Direct Casket, a retailer of caskets charging about half the price that most funeral homes do for their caskets. We have chosen to extend that same philosophy to our casket prices.

What about the quality of your service?
It is easy for anyone to claim that they provide the best service but the best way to prove it is to ask the families we have helped in the past. Click testimonial to read some of the kind words people have written about us and do not hesitate to call us for the phone numbers of countless other families that have used our service to see what they say.

What if we have property at another cemetery?
We can help you at any cemetery, providing the same, sensibly priced, unparalleled service that we provide in our chapel or at the nearby cemeteries.

Do you arrange for a Rabbi if we need one?
We can provide an appropriate rabbi along with anything else you request including a Taharah and Shomer.

What happens if my loved one dies in Florida or another state?
We will coordinate all matters with a colleague in the city that death has occurred to transport your loved one here for an appropriate funeral service and burial.

What if I want to plan things in advance?
Planning in advance is one of the smartest things to do when it comes to arranging a funeral. Simply contact us for an appointment to discuss the details of preplanning funerals.
