OBITUARY
Ben Z. Kedem (born December 25, 1937), loved deeply by his family and friends, passed away on September 6, 2023. Ben was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend who built a life that centered around his family. Ben turned his lifelong curiosity about numbers and business into a successful career as a stockbroker and financial analyst who founded and ran his own business, Kedem Capital Corporation, since 1986.
Born in 1937 in Pultusk, Poland, Ben spent his childhood escaping Nazi persecution by moving through Siberia, Uzbekistan, France, and Germany, before arriving in Israel in 1949. Ben spent the remainder of his childhood and early adulthood in Israel, where he attended Hebrew University and served in the Israeli Army and was promoted to Officer for his outstanding service.
In 1965, Ben arrived in New York City for post-graduate studies at NYU, and he quickly met his future wife, Nancy Sharon Fechter Kedem at the 92nd Street Y. Together, Ben and Nancy built a loving family that includes his daughter, Abigail Kedem Goldberg, husband Eric and children Arielle and Alexander Moses and daughter Michelle Kedem, husband Lowell Kaplan and daughters Ella and Willow, a beloved nephew, Nathan Paul Romano, his wife Stine and their children Suria, Tobias and Lucien and a sister in Israel, Hannah Sagi. Ben is also beloved by his brothers- and sisters-in-law, and numerous nieces, nephews, friends, mentees, and clients.
The funeral will be held at 11:30am (service to start at noon) on Friday, September 8 at Star of David Memorial Chapels, located at 1236 Wellwood Ave., West Babylon, NY 11704.
I think of Ben as a lighthouse in the ocean, the calm before a storm. He is loved.
