Joshua Sokolow was born in Brooklyn , NY on May 4, 1928. His parents, Morris and Sylvia had a three family home in which Josh lived with his 3 siblings, Murray, Helen and Muriel. His grandparents lived nearby. Josh had a happy childhood and stayed in touch with some of his childhood friends their entire lives. He attended City College where he majored in accounting and Brooklyn Law School. His long career as a CPA continued well into his 9th decade of life. Much of that time was spent as comptroller of Interboro Paving.
Josh was married twice. His first marriage to Marsha Miller was brief but gave him his beloved son, Jay. His second marriage to Dale Lester lasted more than 50 years until her recent passing in January. Their daughter, Amy Sokolow Jackrel was affectionately called pussycat by Josh. Josh was very close to his siblings, nieces, and nephews.
He was very proud of his offspring: Jay,( wife Ina) , grandchildren Shai ( wife Robyn)i and Avital, and great-granddaughters Maya, Sophie and Ellie .
Amy Jackrel ( husband Chad) and grandchildren Jason and Amanda. He often remarked that he was the first great grandfather in our family.
Whenever something was needed, Josh was there. He was reliable and eager to help his family and friends. Josh often reflected on his life in later years and said he had no regrets. Many say it but Josh truly meant it. He was grateful for the family and friends in his life, for the work he loved, and the long life he was given. May his memory be for a blessing
