OBITUARY
Sandra “Sandi” Streifer, 83, of Toms River N.J., passed away on October 31, 2022.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY to the late Sam and Anne Cohen, Sandi lived in Toms River, NJ for the past 30 years and lived in Wayne, NJ for 30 years prior to that. Sandi was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother (Mema). Sandi was a very kind, caring, independent, funny, intelligent woman, with a personality that made everyone around her happy and at ease. Sandi attended Erasmus Hall High School in Brooklyn and was always very proud of her Brooklyn roots. She went back to college later after raising two children, and graduated from William Paterson University in Wayne, NJ with a degree in Art History and then completed her master’s degree from Montclair State University in Upper Montclair, NJ with a degree in Youth Counseling. She worked for many years at Covenant House in Manhattan, where she was able to help countless troubled youths get back on track. She found this work extremely rewarding and was a natural at helping people. She loved to read, especially the NY Times and she was a talented artist, who enjoyed painting and drawing. Sandi was also an avid Brooklyn Dodger fan, who never could quite forgive them for leaving her beloved Brooklyn.
Sandi is survived by her beloved husband, Jack Streifer, loving children, Marla Stuchel, Gary Streifer and his wife Maria, and her most precious and adored grandchildren, Anthony, Michael, and Alyssa.
