Lou Hemmerdinger was an outstanding engineer and a long-time leader and participant in the Long Island Section of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers — ASME. My wife and I are greatly saddened to learn of his passing and extend our heartfelt sympathies to his family. We trust that they will be sustained by many fond memories.

Lou was my mentor in 1969 at Grumman when I was an engineering coop student from Pratt Institute. His guidance was an inspiration to me & future coops. Later, after graduation when I became active in ASME, I recall Lou spent a lot of time developing the Long Island Section’s newsletter LIMELIGHT; his energy & enthusiasm for mechanical engineering & ME students/members was indefatigable. Lou………………. you will be missed.
