  1. Eli was a wonderful colleague at John Jay College, serving as a professor and dean. He had great scholarly and leadership qualities. He was a good friend for 50 years, as we both started at the College in the early 1970’s.
May we all have long lasting memories

  2. Eli, was such a class act and genuine person. He will be very much missed, especially at our annual Thanksgiving event. May his memory be a source of comfort to move forward.

  3. I was deeply saddened to lose a much admired friend and colleague Eli Faber. As Dean of Academic Studies, he worked to improve the academic standing of the college, and accomplished it. Rest in peace Eli.

  4. Eli was a superb scholar, a demanding teacher, a humane administrator, and a person of great integrity. He will always serve as a model for anyone who aspires to excellence in academic endeavors and personal character. It was an honor to count him as a colleague and friend throughout our long careers at John Jay.

  5. We have lost a dear friend who sat many times on our verandah with Marjorie and I while researching in our Jamaican archives for the material for his very important books on our Jewish history. We will miss him. Our best wishes to his family.
